OCR: Compressions circulate blood, but blood without oxygen will not help the unconscious person. To oxygenate the blood, you must combine rescue breathing with chest compressions. The current recommendations are to give two breaths for every fifteen compressions (if you are doing one-person CPR). Therefore, after you have checked for a pulse, and found none, begin compressions ... one AND two AND three AND four, etc. until you reach 15. Then, quickly tilt the head back and give two quick deep breaths. Recheck your hand position and begin chest compressions again. When you reach 15, give two quick breaths. Repeat the process. After four cycles pause 10 seconds to recheck the pulse. If no pulse continue CPR until help arrives or until you are too exhausted to continue (or someone else takes over ...
